Sibling rivalry

Jane, one of my Saturday morning walking buddies, has been raising puppies for Canine Companions for Independence for several years now.  A few weeks ago she asked our other buddy, Liz,  and me to buy tickets for a fundraiser for CCI.   Jane is a retired fundraiser and she's good at coercing shaming inspiring a person into donating to a cause.  She even got us to help her hand out flyers about the fundraiser on one of our walks a few weeks ago.

The prize was a basket jam-packed with dog-related goodies, including hand-made note cards, a quilt, dog shampoo, treats, a leash and collar, and TOYS!   And guess who won the basket -- ME!  I couldn't believe it!  I shared my winnings with Jane and Liz, but still came home with a basket full of fun things!

I gave Pumpkin first choice on the toys and she grabbed the Kong Wubba and headed for her favorite spot on the stair landing.

Darby has a thing for balls -- even football shaped balls -- but at first she, too, wanted the Wubba.  She ignored the ball and followed Pumpkin -- at a safe distance! -- clearly coveting Pumpkin's prize.  Then at some point she decided the football was what she wanted after all.

But, of course!  That was all it took for Pumpkin, the Lil' Shitski, to decide she wasn't happy with just the Wubba.  She wanted what Darby had, too, and she managed to intimidate Darby into giving it up!

Here you see her hoarding BOTH toys with poor Darby looking on helplessly.

I swear Pumpkin would have carried both toys in her mouth, if she could have!

For awhile there, things were quite lively!  I think Pumpkin was having fun but I'm not totally sure Darby was!

The rivalry has settled down -- for the moment.  The girls are napping, the Wubba is abandoned on the stairs and the football is in a neutral zone between the two of them.
We'll see how long the peace lasts...

LOL! Pumpkin = Jimmy and Darby = Wilson! Poor Wilson loses every toy to Jimmy!

If you need a 2nd Wubba, I've got an unused one I'd be happy to send you. Neither of my guys will give it so much as a glance.
