Here's a photo of our birthday cake:
It tasted even better than it looked!
We also managed to squeeze in a tour of the Ford Rouge Factory where we watched F-150 trucks being assembled and a visit to Frankenmuth where we feasted on their famous chicken dinner and left a few dollars at an antique store and at Bronner's. We rounded out the weekend with a quick visit to the Strawberry Festival at St. Florian's Church where my cousin and I were baptized 60 years ago this month. (Don't click on that link if you're at work -- the singing choir will tip people off that you aren't working!)
My sister, Glenn and I flew home this morning and touched down at Lindbergh Field in the pouring rain -- a rare thing at any time, but especially in May -- a month that typically brings us what we call "May Gray" but usually no rain.
Pumpkin and Darby were happy to see us and kept me company while I took the following random photos of rain drops, and flowers and vegetables that are growing so fast you can watch it happen!

What a beautiful cake! Happy Belated Birthday.
We just came from Sasha's blog and his mum abandoned him and went to Frankenmuth, too! Must be some chicken.
That cake looks too good to cut. Glad you celebrated in style.
Happy Birthday.

What a beautiful cake! Happy Birthday!
I'm also in San Diego and was just talking to someone this a.m. about how strange all this rain is! I mean - we're used to May Gray - but not THIS gray!
Happy Birthday ! Sounds like a really neat, fun time all round
