Glenn and I had errands to do yesterday, so we were hoping we could pretty much leave Darby and Pumpkin to entertain Flat George. I supervised their introduction, of course. Pumpkin is good with unfamiliar dogs, but Darby is shy. I was pretty sure Flat George wouldn't react much, and I was right.
Pumpkin checked him out first.
Then emboldened by Pumpkin's good experience, Darby gave him a good once-over sniff.
At one point, they both mobbed him and I was worried for a minute that they might knock him over!
He stood his ground, but unfortunately, I discovered I couldn't leave the three of them alone. After sniffing Flat George's tail a second time, Pumpkin tried to chew it off!
I feel a little badly for Flat George. Like so many visitors to San Diego, he was probably lured here by promises of year-round good weather. Well, there is some truth to that, I suppose--at least relative to the weather in other parts of the US and the world, but we do have a bit of winter sometimes and we have been having it the last few weeks. Yesterday, the skies are dull, pewter grey and not too long after I shot these photos, the rain began. The temperature never even made it to 50 degrees -- I believe that would be 10 degrees for you UK friends-of-Flat-George.
I'm going back to work today and think I will bring Flat George with me. I work at the San Diego Zoo and everyone knows that is one of the biggest tourist attractions in San Diego. He won't be able to go inside the Zoo, only dogs trained to help disabled people can actually go into the Zoo, but, if it isn't raining too hard, I might be able to get some photos of him in Balboa Park and outside the Zoo entrance.
P.S. In case anyone is wondering, it appears George is, in fact, house trained. Whew!

Mom has a really good friend who works at the zoo as well. Sure would be a small world if you knew her! She works in the nursery & her name is Kim.

Flat George is the best guest, isn't he? So undemanding and polite.
XXXOOO Daisy, Kendra & Bella
Thanks for the compliment, Buddy. Daisy and crew, Flat George sure is a good guest! Murphydog, I don't think I know Kim. I have worked at the Zoo over 40 years (I started when I was 16) but we have over 2400 employees now, and I don't know half of them.
