In the moment

I spent some time this weekend trying to take pictures of my friend Sharlene's cats.  I learned two things from the experience.  First, black cats are probably the hardest thing to photograph... and my dogs are pretty darn cooperative when it comes to photo taking. Cats are totally uninterested in having their pictures taken.  I suspect Bonnie and Bailey are similarly disinterested but at least they do what I tell them to.   These are some of my favorite shots this week.

One thing about animals with black fur:getting detail of those animals is one of the most difficult things to do. You need slanted light and a long exposure time to get definition. The only problem with that is that the rest of the photo is over exposed. For manual b&w photography there is a technique called burning in that can increase definition of the fur but for digital pics its a bit difficult. This is from the owner of 2 black dogs who tried for years to take their picture :-) good luck!

Bailey is as cute as can be, but I love that Bonnie grand daughter dog of mine. Can I have her???
