These big spiders are common this time of year -- webs strung between fences, trees, any upright items in the yard. 

I never get tired of our view.  Southern California is not the most beautiful place on earth, but we have a nice view of one of the prettier -- in a desert-y sort of way --  areas.

There are several Liquid Ambar trees on our block, but so far this year, this is the only one showing so much color.

I love zinnias.

We didn't get grapes this year but are hoping next year -- the third year for our vine -- will be the year. 

This dog who "never" walks on the walls, sure walks on the walls a lot!

Crows flying home to roost.

The cottonwood tree we love and hate.  Love for the shade, it's twinkling leaves, the sound of the wind in the leaves; hate for the roots we knew, but didn't want to believe, would pop up everywhere.

The tomatoes have slowed down, but are still producing.

Peaceable Kingdom -- for the moment

Waiting for Stacia. As luck would have it, my neighbor friend had knee surgery a few weeks before I had my surgery.  We two invalids have been s-l-o-w-l-y walking around our cul de sac while we recuperate.  The first time, I didn't make a full circle.  Today, we walked 1.4 miles in the morning (about 6-7 laps) and this evening 1.1 mile.  We're both getting better every day! Maybe we'll actually walk faster than 2 miles an hour some day...
