Friday afternoon

Grapes!  I read that the vines don't produce until the third year -- this is the third year!

Radishes to be.

I like the lines left by the lawn mower.

Look at that face!  The gumdrop nose!  The pink tongue! The paint job!

Deciding whether to chase the cat or not...
Darby's paint job isn't as dramatic as Pumpkin's, but look at that face! Those eyes!

A Friday ritual.
A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week.
A simple, ordinary, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember. Inspired by Soulemama

Good Things

1.  Handwork -- in this case, tiny bowls made by a potter in Tucson, Arizona purchased at the annual art fair here,
2. Interesting skies.
3. Finally learning to catch popcorn -- and being better at it than your older companion.
4. Enthusiasm -- the human kind, and the tail-wagging canine kind.
5.  Someone to sit -- err, sprawl -- beside me.
6. Multiple species in one room.
7.  Sitting by a fire.
8. Comfortable furniture.
9.  Living in a place where within a two hour drive one can go from below sea level to....
10. ... over 6,000 feet and SNOW!

I will eat your face!

Bailey and Bonnie are getting along great!  Recently there seems to be a battle to see if it is possible to pull off the other's face. :)

Signs of Spring in CA

So, on Thursday Erika showed you some signs of spring in Virginia. I'm here today with some signs of spring in very southern, Southern California.
Lettuce fresh from the garden.
People walking up the service trail a couple of houses down with the girls standing guard.
Nectarine blossoms.  Fingers crossed for a good year.
Early Girl tomato.  I hope it's a good tomato season, too!
Harry is getting braver and wandering farther out into the yard.  Gonna have to keep an eye on him!
Wet knees from kneeling in the grass still damp from the weekend's storm.
Green grass and dogs running through it.
The possibility of grapes.
Our beloved, horrid cottonwood tree and one of its two clusters of leaves.

Signs of Spring in VA

Poor Bonnie and Bailey.  I put up this gate last weekend to keep them way from our deck garden.  I don't want them getting into the tomato plants or the peas, or the other leafy greens.   I can't help but notice the similarities with Darby and Pumpkin behind their "No Dogs Allowed" gate :)

Happy Spring everyone!
