I got excited when I saw the pretty white flowers and when the flowers produced fruit -- and lots of them -- I was very happy. But, as I watched the fruit grow, I was concerned to see them growing longer, but not rounder.
Long bell peppers? |
Not at all what I was expecting! But, fortunately I have home and work friends who are happy to take them off my hands.
Now, these two hot little chili peppers were everything I was expecting and no one is takin' them off my hands!

Are you not a spicy food person or was it just way too many jalepenas?
Nice shots of the girls playing. It is amazing they don't get hurt with how hard they play!
haha, that happened to us last year! And they were barely spicy.. so didn't even get to use them the proper way.. I hope our bell peppers we planted this year are actually bell peppers :)
Well, Kelly -- ours are pretty spicy and Taryn, I'm not a big spicy food fan, but if I were, I'd have to get out the canning pot -- I'm gonna have a LOT of those suckers. My husband likes them, so I won't be giving all of them away. I'm toying with the idea of ripping out all but one of the plants, but they are growing so beautifully...
Taryn, I am constantly amazed that neither girl gets hurt when they play -- or when they fight, and they do fight! In these photos they are playing, although Darby's teeth would seem to indicate otherwise! Only very, very rarely do I hear a yelp, so I think they are all show and no bite! When I'm around to catch them snarky, not playful, actions get a firm no and a good shot from the squirt bottle.
Ah-h-h! What a sweet post! Wish my guys would just play. It usually turns to alpha male challenges! I referee a lot.
Buddy's PA -- I referee a lot, too!!
Wow! What a surprise that must have been!
I got all the wrong tomatoes this year, which - as far as I'm concerned - is catastrophic! And funny enough, my chili peppers look too chubby to be the chili variety, and they seem to be turning purple, but I think it's too early to say. Ciao!
