Don't play on the stairs!

Oh! How I wish they could understand "Don't play on the stairs!"

I hold my breath when they race up and down and tackle each other.

I only had one child and she was a girl. Maybe this is what it's like to have boys!?

The Cease Fire is Over

It isn't easy to see in these photos, but Harry's claws are retracted--he is definitely playing just as much as Darby is and he has every opportunity to get away from her and stay out of her reach.

Who needs Jimmy Carter?

Who needs Jimmy Carter?

Forget the United Nations,

and their peace keeping missions.

Maybe what the world needs now isn't love, sweet, love.

Maybe all we need is freeze dried liver treats.

If the treats could bring Darby and Harry together in peace for a few minutes this morning, maybe they'd work in the Middle East, too!

(Darby was the one interested in the dirty sock, not Harry. I know Harry would want me to point that out.)

No Photos

I don't have any new photos to share, but I do have to comment that one day after the major abdominal surgery I had 20 years ago I sure did not feel like jumping into the air, running up (and down) two flights of stairs and racing from one side of the backyard to the other.

But Darby felt like doing all those things and more when I got home from work this afternoon--just one day after her major abdominal surgery!

Guess they make dogs different!

Poor Darby!

Poor Darby!

She was spayed today (Wednesday, the 26th.)

When we got home, she wobbled out to the backyard for a potty break, wobbled back in, then proceeded to follow me from room to room--laying down if I stopped, then lumbering to her feet when I moved.

So, I lead her to her crate where she laid down with a sigh.

When I came back with my phone to take a photo, she looked up -- pitifully:

then went back to sleep:

I'm not sure she will be able to make it up the stairs tonight; if not, I'll sleep on the sofa downstairs with her.

Poor baby!
