Outings

On Sunday Darby had her first outing to Petsmart. She did great! She was happy to see everyone--so happy she peed all over the floor.

Multiple times.

After having gone "pee-pee" at home before getting in the car.

I'm not crawling around cleaning pee off my own floor so much anymore, so now I'm crawling around the floor in Petco!

This weekend she and I also took our first walk around the neighborhood. Not too far--just far enough to pee on someone else's grass, say hello to some other people and jump when a big dog behind a gate let loose with a booming bark!

I'm not coordinated enough to have taken photos during our outings, but here is a cute picture of an annoying activity we are working on NOT becoming a habit:

Glenn might be right

Glenn just might be right about Darby's ears. He keeps saying to leave her ears alone, they will come up on their own -- in spite of admonitions to the contrary from experts.

This morning, and off and on throughout the day, the right ear sure looked like it was coming up.

I'll keep my fingers crossed and practice saying "Yes, dear. You were right." This is one time I won't mind at all if he is right!

Ear update

Well, the ear tape lasted only a couple of days. Darby flopped her head around so much (or we didn't strengthen the "bridge" of tape between her ears well enough) that her ears fell over backward!

I took the tape off without any help. I am amazed at how still she stayed as I carefully, carefully worked it off.

The next day the left ear popped upright.

It stays that way except when she comes running to greet someone. Then, she lays her ears back flat and looks so darned cute!

The right ear pops up when she is listening carefully to something. I think I'm going to give it another couple of days and then, if it hasn't popped up, too, I may try a different technique on it--using moleskin to support the ear and masking tape to keep the moleskin in place.

Glenn thinks she is cute the way she is. I do, too, but, I want real corgi ears.

The shortest path isn't necessarily the best

The shortest path isn't necessarily the best path--at least not for a corgi puppy early in the morning when the grass is wet from the sprinklers, or late in the evening when it is wet with dew.

On those occasions Darby uses the stone paths whenever she can.

I wish I had had my camera with me this morning, although I still may not have been able to record what made me laugh out loud.

Each time I threw the ball for Darby, she ran out across the tall, wet grass to get the ball, then to bring the ball back to me, she ran over to the stone path followed it to the fork, turned to her right and followed the other path until she got as close to me as she could without having to walk through the grass!

I guess when you're that low to the ground, you'll do a lot to avoid tall, wet grass!

Did I mention her tail?

I love Darby's tail.

I love the white tip.

She carries her tail so high and has such a bouncy walk,

that the white tip of her tail sometimes looks like a flag waving.
