On their level

"In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semi-human. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog."  ~ Edward Hoagland "Dogs and the Tug of Life"

I like that saying.   And, I'd like to think that Edward means we should try to become more like dogs by adopting some of their more noble traits such as their playful, forgiving natures and not their propensity for drinking out of toilets!

In my quest to become partly a dog, I thought I'd start by checking out how things look from Darby's and Pumpkin's level.

If nothing else, I can tell you that the floors look at lot dirtier and the dust motes are a lot more evident from down there!

Another great post! You have a wonderful imagination!

One of the number one rules when walking the agility course(prior to running it with your dog) is to walk it a couple of times as your dog would see it, instead of just at our own head-level. It saves many an off-course dis-qualification!

This post really hits home :-)....I too love to get down with them and they seem to find it mildly amusing. Alas.... the floor/rugs...oh well :-)

Great quote. Sort of the opposite view from Dead Poet's Society!

XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy

SHE says SHE likes to get down on our level.....but it's the gettin' up that's the problem. BOL!

Taryn, thanks for the compliment -- coming from the Queen of "W's" it means a lot! The dogs do seem amused by us when we get down on their level, huh? And, Daisy, SHE must be a baby-boomer like me--at our age getting down on the floor is WAY easier than getting up.
