Not difficult

Do you remember that scene from the movie "When Harry Met Sally" when Meg Ryan's character, Sally, cries on the shoulder of Harry,  Billy Crystal's character, after finding out that the boyfriend who fairly recently broke up with her is getting married?  Sally asks why no one wants her and she answers her own question by saying "Because I'm DIFFicult!"

I'm sort of DIFFicult, too, as Glenn and Erika will tell you.  And, so is Darby.  Maybe that's one of the reasons I love Darby so much.  We  DIFFicult creatures need to stick together.

Pumpkin isn't difficult at all.  She is happy-go-lucky, cheerful to everyone (unless you are Darby and you try to take her bone or the ball she wants to chase!)

Erika isn't difficult either (although, I haven't checked with Christian -- he may have a different opinion!) and she and Pumpkin really hit it off.   I don't know who liked who more!  Pumpkin couldn't get enough of Erika and Erika couldn't get enough of Pumpkin.

Erika took a lot of photos, but easily 3/4ths of them are of Pumpkin.  Here are some of them.

I just noticed both Pumpkin and I have wrinkled ankles.  At least mine are still ankle-y.  Hers are more like cankles!

Cute pictures! You are not alone in being difficult. I am sure there have been MANY times John would have called me that ....or worse ;-)

Thanks for all the comments! I agree that Erika's photos are really nice. Daisy and Co., my sweet, difficult Darby was not hiding on the stairs -- she only does that when strange dogs come to visit. She LOVES people. She just confuses them sometimes by growling softly when she wants more attention or more petting. We continue to work on that!

Are you sure it is really a growl, and not one of the many vocalizations Cardis have? All of my Cardis have made a little rumble noise (sort of like a nasal hum or grunt sound) when they wanted to be pet or wanted a bite of what you are eating. Cardis are famous for the range of little noises they make and none of them are truly growls in a family context.

Taryn, I think you are exactly right that the noise Darby makes when she wants attention isn't a growl at all. BUT, it sounds like a growl. She doesn't seem to have as wide a range of vocalizations as Pumpkin does. Pumpkin often sounds like an ape or monkey. She came equipped with a warble, yodel, hum and what I can only describe as a monkey sound. But, Darby seems to only have had the growl installed! The various growls are discernible to me, but not everyone.
