Look -- if you aren't afraid of big, hairy spiders -- at what Glenn found in our driveway when he came home yesterday evening:
They are quite common out here in the foothills outside San
Diego, but we've only seen one other one in the nearly 16 years we've
lived here.
This one lost a leg somehow but was able to scurry around pretty well.
They don't spin webs, but live in abandoned rodent holes or other tunnels. Because they eat things like pillbugs and other insects, we're glad they're around. But, while it's fun to see one every now and then, I'm glad they usually keep to themselves! Glenn used a broom to gently help this one off the driveway into the bushes (and away from the garage door!)

Spiders always give me chills! Especially the big ones!
Yikes!! Scary! We've missed visiting. I broke routine computing, it's hard to get back! I have been painting and working on the house. It seems an endless job. But I love your posts. Give Darby and Pumpkin tummy tickles for us. Hope someday, we can meetup!
Oh man, big hairy spiders? No thanks! Haha. They're scary.
That one sure is big!!

SHE says anything that eats flies and mosquitoes is a friend of HERS. We usually have spiders around our ceilings....but nothing a dramatic as a tarantula!
